NON SURGICAL TREATMENT

Disorders of the nose, mouth and throat can cause snoring in adults and children. Most forms of snoring do not need surgery and a thorough assessment and simple treatments are sufficient to provide relief for your partner.

Mandibular advancement splints

Mandibular advancement splint/dental splints hold your jaw forward during sleep. This is a no risk, pain free option that works for carefully selected patients. There are a number of products available. We can provide details of the most appropriate device and how to access this very useful non invasive form of treatment which is very effective in the right patient.

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
CPAP is a device that includes a mask that fits snugly over your nose and mouth and is held in place with head straps. The mask is connected to a blower that generates pressurised air. The controlled pressure works as an air splint to keep the soft tissue of the nose and throat in place and the airway open. This noninvasive therapy is extremely effective and works for 95% of people with sleep apnoea.
