SORE THROATS
Sore throats can be due to viruses and pharyngitis, but also tonsillitis and glandular fever and are usually treated by the GP. Recurrent tonsillitis can be debilitating and can result in a lot of time away from school or work. We can discuss the best long term management of recurrent acute tonsillitis including tonsillectomy when necessary.
Occasionally sore throats are due to serious conditions including cancer and are particularly worrying when they are persistent and occur in the older patient and in smokers or when associated with neck lumps.
